About Our League

Western Little League takes pride in balancing fun with competitive play in a family-friendly environment. Little League Baseball ® allows kids to start playing baseball before they actually turn 4-years-old, which is a younger age than what most other youth baseball leagues allow. We also extend players' Little League careers by having our Intermediate Division (ages 11-13). In fact, we are the only Little League in the Lexington area that allows 13-year-olds to play. All games at Cardinal Run Park, one of the most premier youth baseball complexes in the area. Come play with us and join our baseball family!

Temporary Suspension of League Activities
Dear League Members,

Yesterday, an email was sent to inform you of precautions to take to protect you and your family from the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Also mentioned were the steps the league would take in response to this very serious situation. After careful consideration and in following guidance by Little League International, our governing body, and local/state authorities, including Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS), we have decided to suspend all league activities until April 6. This includes team practices, meetings, and any other events involving large gatherings of people.

At this point, the start of games for all age divisions will be delayed by two weeks from their original dates. Games in the Intermediate, Minors, and Rookie Divisions were originally scheduled to begin the week of April 6. However, games in those divisions will now begin the week of April 20 to allow for more team practices. Games in the Teeball Division will begin on April 25, the same day of the league Opening Ceremonies. Games in the Weeball Division will begin on April 28. Please keep in mind these dates are subject to change if further suspensions of activities are warranted.

While I realize this is disappointing news, we feel that it is in the best interest of our volunteers and participant families to err on the side of caution. Again, the safety of you and your family is most important. We are committed to communicating with you on a consistent basis to ensure everyone has additional information and best practices to work through the coronavirus pandemic. Please look for our official communication via email, on our website (www.wllbb.com), and on social media (Facebook: @WLLBaseballLex).

We will continue to seek guidance from Little League International and local/state authorities (e.g., FCPS), including the World Health OrganizationCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Kentucky Department of Public Health, and Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. Please continue to follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer); avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid close contact with people who are sick. We also encourage you all to limit close, physical contact with others (including shaking hands).

Finally, be mindful of how to help others who are at the greatest risk either financially or physically during this difficult time. Community is part of Little League baseball. While you must certainly take appropriate precautions to protect your own well-being, be there for others if you are able. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Staff safe and be well.

Sincerely,

Nathan Lowe
League President
